NPP calls for calm among party supporters following Alan’s resignation

The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has appealed for calm among its rank and file following the resignation of one of its founding members, Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen.

The party in a statement issued by its General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong on Monday, September 25 said that it has taken “notice of the unfortunate decision of Mr Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen, a long-standing member of the Party to forfeit his membership, and contest as an independent presidential candidate in the 2024 general elections.”

May God bless our homeland Ghana and make the New Patriotic Party great and strong.”

Mr Kyeremanten announced his resignation from the NPP at a press conference today Monday, September 25 to enable him to contest as an independent presidential candidate in the 2024 elections.

This makes it the second time he has resigned from the NPP after he first did so in 2007 but later returned.

“Under the circumstances and given the context provided, I wish to use this platform to announce that I am honourably resigning with immediate effect from the New Patriotic Party to contest for the high office of the President of the Republic of Ghana in the 2024 General Elections, as an Independent Presidential Candidate,” Alan said.
