Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has taken an early, commanding lead in the NPP’s Super Delegates Conference which took place nationwide today, Saturday, August 26, 2023.
Provisional results indicate that Dr Bawumia has secured more than 600 of the votes counted, with Kennedy Agyapong securing over 100 votes and Alan Kyerematen closely following in third position.
The ongoing Super Delegates Congress aims to select five presidential aspirants who will proceed to the party’s primaries in November this year. These primaries will determine the NPP’s flagbearer for the 2024 general election.
As the current Vice President, Bawumia stands as a strong contender and is perceived as the frontrunner in the competition. He enjoys the support of influential figures within the party, bolstering his position.
Kyerematen, a former trade minister, also commands considerable attention as a formidable candidate. He has garnered backing from various prominent businessmen and influential individuals.
Kennedy Agyapong, known for his outspoken nature and willingness to challenge norms, is a controversial yet popular figure. Despite his polarizing reputation, he remains an influential contender.
