Store enough water! That’s the caution from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) to residents of parts of Accra.
According to a statement from the GWCL, there will be a temporary shutdown of two out of its three treatment plants at the Weija Headworks on Tuesday, July 4. The shutdown is expected to last for 16 hours, according to the company.
The statement released on Monday urged customers of GWCL in and around Kasoa, Weija, Nyanyano, Tuba, Tetegu, McCarthy Hill, Bortianor, and their surrounding areas to store an adequate amount of water in preparation for the exercise.
GWCL management has assured customers and the public that the water supply will resume promptly once the maintenance work is completed. They expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the temporary shutdown.
Customers in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements to ensure they have sufficient water during the period of the shutdown.
