The newly enskinned Tufuhene of Adukrom in the Okuapeman Traditional Area in the Okere District of the Eastern Region, Nana Ayisi Koranteng IV, has pledged to lure non-governmental organisations (NGOs), development partners, and international businesses to invest in the area to spur growth and development.
“As a traditional authority, I will not only rely on the government for development but will also use my connections outside the shores of the country to travel and meet with NGOs, our development partners, and other private investors to help transform the area, since it is impoverished. I will also ensure the completion of all abandoned school construction projects in the community.
“I promise to extend a helping hand to the youth and the vulnerable, and to put the community first.”
He revealed that although he had intended to contest as a parliamentary candidate for the Akuapem North Constituency to serve his people as a Member of Parliament, he was advised by his mother to rescind that decision.
He also called on the people to unite to help accelerate the development of the community.
He said societies are developed through unity and the active participation of all citizens in the initiation and implementation of programmes and projects that can help uplift people from their current circumstances.
Speaking at a durbar after his coronation at Adukrom in the Okere District, he said unity was crucial to achieving the community’s development agenda.
He therefore called on all stakeholders—including chiefs, assembly members, unit committee members, and residents—to join hands with him to initiate and implement projects that would help improve living conditions.
He further urged the people to keep their environment clean and to take good care of their children, especially regarding their education and well-being.
Nana Ayisi Koranteng IV also called on the youth to be law-abiding and to actively participate in communal activities.
Speaking to the media, Ahunambubrim Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, the Adukromhene and Okuapem Nifahene, urged Nana Ayisi Koranteng IV to focus on development and to project Adukrom to NGOs. He also advised the youth to desist from unlawful and negative behaviour.
