Lawyer Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah has defeated Owusu Afriyie Prempeh, brother of incumbent Manhyia South MP Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, to win the primary held today, Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Nana Baffour Awuah secured 376 votes of the valid votes cast to beat his closest competitor, Nana Afriyie Prempeh who garnered 141 votes. Other candidates, James Owusu and Akwasi Coker Gyambibi received 7 and 2 votes, respectively.
Prof. Smart Sarpong’s science and data research had accurately predicted Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah’s triumph, forecasting a win with not less than 70% of the delegates’ votes.
The primary took place following the elevation of Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, to the position of running mate for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP.
