SONA 2024: Gov’t to launch Performance Tracker in March

The government is set to introduce a Performance Tracker, a tool aimed at ensuring transparency and accountability in the execution of infrastructure projects across the country.

President Akufo-Addo who made this known during the State of the Nations Address in Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, said the tracker will be launched in March this year.

He said the tracker will help address longstanding concerns about the accuracy and reliability of project presentations, particularly the use of artist’s impressions to depict final outcomes.

“This government, after all, is the Digitalisation Government, and the man who has led the entire digitalisation process these past seven years, my indefatigable Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr Digitalisation, the NPP’s excellent presidential candidate for the 2024 election, is coming up with what will allow everyone and anyone to check on every project being undertaken by the government without having to listen to the President’s message on the State of the Nation.”

“Mr Speaker, if you want to check on roads, classroom blocks or CHPs compounds or Agenda 111 hospitals, bridges, science laboratories, water projects, sanitation projects, landing sites and harbours, and other infrastructural projects, or whatever this government used your tax money to execute, the key to your query is right there on your phone. Mr Speaker, the Performance Tracker will be formally launched in March,” President Akufo-Addo said.

Speaking about the initiative, the President emphasized the need to uphold standards and deliver tangible results to the people.

He stressed that the Performance Tracker would serve as a reliable mechanism for showcasing the progress and impact of infrastructure projects, thereby instilling trust and confidence among citizens.

“In education in terms of student enrolment, teacher training and employment, provision of infrastructure, (NPP has done more) than any government; we have similarly done more in health, agriculture, security, roads, railways, tourism and digitalisation.”
