Ghanaian footballers made their presence felt across Major League Soccer (MLS) over the weekend, with Kelvin Yeboah emerging as the standout performer after scoring and providing an assist in Minnesota United’s dramatic 3–2 comeback victory over St. Louis CITY SC.
Yeboah played 89 minutes on Saturday, October 17, scoring in the 68th minute after assisting Aziel Jackson’s 49th-minute goal as Minnesota overturned an early two-goal deficit to secure all three points. The result also ended St. Louis CITY’s 21-game unbeaten run.
The performance took Yeboah’s 2026 MLS tally to 17 goals and three assists, further underlining his importance to Minnesota’s attacking ambitions.
Meanwhile, midfielder Ronald Donkor also completed 90 minutes for the New York Red Bulls, who suffered a 2–0 home defeat to Toronto FC. Donkor started in midfield but could not prevent his side from losing, finishing without a goal or assist.
Elsewhere, defender Maxwell Woledzi played the full 90 minutes for Nashville SC in their 1–1 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes. Woledzi started at centre-back as Hany Mukhtar gave Nashville the lead in the 34th minute before Preston Judd equalised for San Jose in the 70th minute. The draw came as Nashville continued its impressive campaign in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile, Ghana international Joseph Paintsil featured for Los Angeles Galaxy in their 2–2 draw against San Diego FC. The winger played 25 minutes but did not register a goal or assist as the two sides shared the points.
Yeboah’s goal and assist made him the most influential Ghanaian performer among these verified appearances, while Donkor and Woledzi completed full matches for their respective teams. Paintsil, meanwhile, made a brief appearance for the Galaxy.
The weekend’s performances highlighted the different roles Ghanaian players are playing in the American top flight, from Yeboah’s decisive attacking contribution to the defensive and midfield responsibilities of Woledzi and Donkor.
