President John Dramani Mahama is set to embark on a two-day working visit to the Volta Region under the government’s Resetting Ghana initiative, during which he will inspect major infrastructure projects, launch new development initiatives, engage citizens and promote the government’s flagship programmes.
The tour, scheduled for July 16 and 17, will take the President to several districts across the region, where he is expected to assess the progress of ongoing projects and inaugurate completed facilities aimed at improving the lives of residents.
The visit will begin in Juapong, where President Mahama will perform the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of a 24-hour Economy Market, one of the government’s flagship initiatives intended to stimulate local commerce, create jobs and support economic growth.
The President will then proceed to the Peki College of Education to inspect a newly constructed 1,500-capacity multipurpose assembly hall before touring ongoing road projects, including the Asikuma–Anyirawase Road and the UHAS Bypass–Anyirawase to Ho Road.
As part of his visit to Ho, President Mahama will inspect the multi-purpose laboratory project at the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) Sokode Campus. He will also participate in a durbar for the Free Primary Health Care Programme at the Ho Municipal Hospital, where he is expected to interact with healthcare professionals, beneficiaries and members of the public.
On the second day of the tour, the President will inspect the current state of the Ho Sports Stadium before holding a ResettingGhana Citizens’ Engagement at Ho Technical University. The forum is expected to provide an opportunity for residents to interact directly with the President on government policies, development programmes and issues affecting the region.
The President will later inaugurate the new Akatsi North District Police Headquarters at Ave Dakpa to strengthen security infrastructure and improve policing in the district.
The tour will conclude with an inspection of the ongoing Ho–Denu Road project, a major road corridor expected to improve transportation, facilitate trade and enhance connectivity within the Volta Region.
The two-day visit forms part of President Mahama’s nationwide #ResettingGhana tour aimed at assessing development projects, engaging citizens and reinforcing the government’s commitment to delivering on its development agenda.
