The Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs is Hon. Ahmed Ibrahim.
He is also the Member of Parliament for the good people of Banda in the Bono Region.
As part of President Mahama’s Resetting Agenda, the Government decided to merge or align some ministries.
His current ministry has two other ministries aligned with or added to it.
I am sure the purpose is to ensure efficiency, save costs and reduce the number of ministries.
I am not a member of the government or the political party to which the Hon. Minister belongs, but I must state that he is an excellent Minister who is committed to actualising the vision of the President.
He is an action-oriented Minister who moves from region to region, visiting the various metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to monitor their responsibilities. He was recently seen critiquing some appointees of the President who are not vigorously pushing the President’s agenda.
His encounter with the MCE of Ayawaso North was fruitful, as he made the residents happy by urging the MCE and his management to make the needs of the people their topmost priority.
As the Minister in charge of Chieftaincy, he relates well and productively with traditional authorities.
It must be noted that he has been able to increase their allowances, and this has brought some joy and happiness to our traditional authorities.
As the custodians of our customs and traditions, he ensures that chiefs are accorded the respect they deserve and are supported to continue serving their people.
With the religious bodies, providing support, formulating sound policies, showing reverence and promoting interfaith unity among the three major religious groups in our country—Islam, Christianity and Traditional Religion—have been his priorities.
The Minister relates well with the House of the People, Parliament.
He attends the House to answer questions and participate in legislative business.
He is among the few Ministers who participate actively in the work of the House.
The Roads Minister is another regular attendee of the House.
Good planning.
It must be stressed that he served as Deputy Chief Whip and was therefore part of the leadership of the House.
It is in this vein that he reveres Parliament and is always ready to respond to its calls.
The media is one group that he respects and cherishes.
He understands the importance of the media in gathering, processing and disseminating information to the public.
He believes the media is an important partner in his success as a servant of the people.
He possesses the admirable qualities of commitment, dedication, hard work and discipline in his roles as a Minister of State and a legislator.
Hon. Ahmed, your commitment to ensuring that the President actualises his vision is commendable, and I can only urge you to continue this excellent servant leadership.
Ahmed Ibrahim is a staunch member and an elder of the Church of Pentecost.
This should not be misconstrued.
Ghana is blessed to have such a faithful and loyal servant.
Salaam. Shalom. Peace. ✌️
Ahmed
