The Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations (MOCDTI) has strongly rejected claims circulating on social media that its sector minister, Samuel Nartey George, has “blown” public funds, describing the allegations as “inaccurate, misleading and devoid of context.”
In an official statement dated Monday, May 18, 2026, the Ministry clarified that the document being shared online is merely “an extract from a broader official submission” submitted to the Ministry of Finance for Commitment Authorisation, in line with established public financial management and procurement procedures.
“The request covers a range of planned projects, operational activities and programme interventions to be undertaken by the Ministry within the year under review.”
“It is important to emphasise that the said Commitment Authorisation request is yet to receive approval from the Ministry of Finance. Consequently, no funds have been released, disbursed or expended in relation to the items referenced in the circulating document,” the Ministry said.
The Ministry, therefore, dismissed claims that public funds had already been misused, stating that such assertions must be treated with the contempt they deserve.
