Catholic Women Association of Christ the King Church Marks Mother’s Day with Faith, Fellowship and Call for Responsible Parenting

The Catholic Women Association (CWA) of Christ the King Catholic Church at Mawuli Estate, Ho, celebrated this year’s Mother’s Day in a colourful and spiritually uplifting atmosphere, bringing together women, families, and parishioners to honour the invaluable role mothers play in both society and the Church.

The week-long celebration, which climaxed with a thanksgiving and social gathering at Sky Plus Hotel, was marked by moments of fellowship, reflection, prayer, and social interaction aimed at appreciating motherhood, unity, and dedicated service to God. Dressed in cheerful attire and radiant smiles, members of the association shared moments of joy, friendship, and togetherness throughout the occasion.

Speaking during the event, Chairperson of the Christ the King Catholic Women Association, Joan Addea, said the celebration was organised not only to honour mothers within the Church but also to provide an opportunity for elderly women in the association to relax, interact, and enjoy themselves outside their usual routines.

She appealed to Catholic women and mothers to join the association to help strengthen the group and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the Church community.

“Mothers play a vital role in shaping families, the Church, and society as a whole, and it is important that women come together in unity and faith to support one another and promote Christian values.”

Sefiamor Janet Agorku also urged mothers to take a more active role in guiding and nurturing their children to become responsible and God-fearing citizens in the future.

According to her, the future of society largely depends on the quality of upbringing children receive at home, stressing the need for mothers to instil discipline, humility, respect, and good moral values in their children from an early age.

She encouraged mothers to lead by example and support their children spiritually, academically, and morally to help shape a better and more responsible society.

“Mothers must encourage their children to grow in Christ and remain steadfast in faith because strong Christian values are essential in raising responsible future leaders,” she said.
Mrs Agorku further called on women and mothers to continue supporting the activities of the association in the years ahead in order to strengthen unity, faith, and the welfare of families within the Church and the wider community.

Some members of the association described mothers as the backbone of every home and a source of strength, love, wisdom, and guidance to children and society at large. They encouraged women to continue upholding Christian values, supporting one another, and playing active roles in community development.

The event also provided an avenue for members to deepen the bond of friendship and sisterhood within the Church. Songs of praise, prayers, and heartfelt expressions of gratitude filled the gathering as the women thanked God for the gift of motherhood and prayed for divine blessings upon all mothers.

The Mother’s Day celebration by the Catholic Women Association of Christ the King Church at Mawuli Estate once again highlighted the importance of faith, unity, responsible parenting, and the special place mothers occupy in both family life and the Christian community.
