The Member of Parliament-elect for the Ayawaso East Constituency, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed, will be sworn into office today, Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place in the Parliament of Ghana and will be administered by the Speaker, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.
Baba Jamal, Ghana’s former High Commissioner to Nigeria, secured the parliamentary seat following a by-election held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Official results showed that Baba Jamal polled 10,884 votes, comfortably defeating his closest rival, Yusif Ali Baba of the New Patriotic Party, who garnered 4,009 votes.
Independent candidate Mohammed Umar Sanda placed third with 1,885 votes, while Ibrahim Idrissu and Kanor David obtained 43 and 104 votes, respectively.
Ahead of his swearing-in, Baba Jamal took to Facebook on Monday, March 9, to thank residents of Ayawaso East for the confidence reposed in him.
“Indeed, Allah’s ways are perfect. I am deeply humbled by the opportunity to serve, and I look forward to working together with you to build a brighter and greater future for the Ayawaso East Constituency,” he wrote.
