The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana has announced a rerun of the Parliamentary Election in the Kpandai Constituency, following a directive from the Tamale High Court and a formal notification from Parliament declaring the seat vacant.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, 10th December 2025, the Commission explained that the decision follows the ruling of the Tamale High Court on Monday, 24th November 2025, which ordered that a fresh election be conducted in the constituency within 30 days.
The court’s ruling was further reinforced by a letter received from the Clerk to Parliament on Tuesday, 9th December 2025, confirming the vacancy of the Kpandai Parliamentary seat.
The EC has therefore scheduled the rerun for Tuesday, 30th December 2025.
According to the Commission, the rerun will involve only the three candidates who participated in the 2024 Parliamentary Election in the constituency, in line with electoral regulations governing such processes.
The statement was signed by Fred Tetteh, Deputy Director of the Research, Monitoring and Evaluation Department of the Electoral Commission.
The Commission extended its appreciation to the public and urged all stakeholders to cooperate to ensure a smooth and credible electoral process.
