Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, has strongly refuted claims suggesting he has threatened bloodshed in the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
In a strongly worded statement released on July 29, 2025, the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee described the allegations making rounds on social media as “malicious publications” designed to damage his reputation and mislead the public.
“I wish to state unequivocally that such headlines, captions and statements are false and are only intended to create public disaffection for me,” he said.
According to him, at no point in his political career has he ever incited violence or bloodshed, nor will he ever do so.
“I have not under any circumstances threatened bloodshed or violence in any election in this country,” he stressed. “I want to assure the general public that under no circumstances will I be involved in acts of violence, much less threatening the same.”
The MP reiterated his consistent advocacy for peaceful elections and his staunch opposition to electoral violence.
“It is a matter of public record that I have consistently indicated my repugnance at electoral violence, bloodshed and clashes during elections. I have on many occasions urged the State to take steps to prosecute perpetrators of such offences in order to serve as a deterrence and to prevent violence and bloodshed in future elections.”
Rev. Fordjour called on the public to disregard the false publications and treat them with the contempt they deserve, insisting the allegations are part of a propaganda campaign meant to discredit his integrity and longstanding commitment to peace.
“I urge the persons behind the said malicious publications to desist from such acts as they do not only destroy the reputation of innocent persons but also threaten the peace and stability of our dear nation,” he appealed.
“I have always preached peace and unity. Violence has no place in my politics or in our democracy,” he declared.
