The Hohoe office of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has been locked up by Wodey Samuel, the Constituency Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in protest over what he describes as unfair treatment in the appointment of the Municipal NADMO Director.
Mr. Wodey claims he was the rightful person to occupy the position but was sidelined in favour of Raphael Kumaga, the NDC’s Deputy Constituency Organiser.
He expressed disappointment at the development, insisting he had been tipped for the role and expected to be appointed.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Wodey said the locking of the NADMO office was a direct response to the “anomaly” in the appointment process.
He warned that the office would remain shut until the issue was resolved, stressing that peace could only prevail if the matter was corrected.
The protest action has disrupted operations at the Hohoe NADMO office, with staff unable to report to work.
The Municipal Chief Executive has yet to issue an official response on the matter.
Meanwhile, the Hohoe Constituency Chairman of the NDC, Mr. Newton Darkey, has strongly condemned Mr. Wodey’s actions.
He explained that Mr. Wodey had initially declined the NADMO Director role when he was offered the position and instead requested to be considered for a different office.
Mr. Darkey revealed that Mr. Kumaga was subsequently appointed to the position after Mr. Wodey’s rejection. He added that after being unsuccessful in securing his preferred role, Mr. Wodey made a sudden reversal and demanded the NADMO post, which was no longer available.
“This behavior is not only unfortunate but unacceptable,” Mr. Darkey stated, calling for calm and a peaceful resolution to the standoff.
