Pope John Senior High School and Minor Seminary (POJOSS) came alive on Saturday, June 14, 2025, as the school celebrated its 67th Anniversary with a colourful Speech and Prize-Giving Day and Old Students’ Homecoming in Effiduase, Koforidua.
The event, which drew hundreds of past and present students, parents, and dignitaries, was marked by vibrant displays of school pride, recognition of academic excellence, and heartfelt speeches — all captured in stunning visuals that showcased the grandeur of the occasion.
Ghana’s Minister for Defence, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, a proud old boy of the school, was the keynote speaker. He delivered an emotional and inspiring message to the final year students, urging them to honour the sacrifices of their parents and guardians through hard work, gratitude, and service.

“Let your excellence lift others, and let your legacy be one of service, humility, and action,” Dr Boamah charged the students, drawing applause from the packed gathering.
Joining him at the event were other distinguished alumni, including Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Ofoase/Ayirebi and former Minister for Information, and Professor Titus Beyuo, MP for Lambussie. Their presence highlighted the school’s legacy of producing leaders in national governance, academia, and public service.

The celebration was filled with moments of nostalgia and pride as old students — known affectionately as Pojobas — reconnected, reminisced, and pledged renewed support for the school’s development.

Highlights of the day included a colourful parade and the presentation of awards to outstanding students and staff. The rich tradition of the school was on full display, blending spirituality, discipline, and academic excellence in a manner that reaffirmed POJOSS’s place as one of Ghana’s most revered institutions.
