The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central, Richmond Edem Kpotosu, has made a passionate appeal for the immediate operationalisation of the Ho Abattoir, a state-of-the-art facility that has been left to deteriorate for over a decade.
The facility, which was constructed more than 10 years ago, has since been abandoned, with its infrastructure falling into disrepair. Air conditioners and ceilings have started falling apart. The MP expressed concern that such a valuable public investment is wasting away while butchers and livestock owners continue to operate in substandard and unhygienic environments.
Hon. Kpotosu called on the Ho Municipal Chief Executive to take urgent steps to revive the facility to provide a clean, safe, and modern space for the slaughtering of animals, particularly as the community prepares for the Eid al-Adha festivities.
The MP made this call during a donation exercise organised in partnership with the Ghana-Turkey Cooperation and Development Association (TUDEC), in celebration of Eid al-Adha. Through the partnership, 18 cattle were slaughtered and distributed to various identifiable groups and members of the Muslim community within the Ho Central constituency.
He used the occasion to commend the Muslim community for their continued support and urged them to embrace peace, unity, and coexistence to ensure that development reaches every corner of the constituency.
“This is the time to demonstrate brotherhood and togetherness. Peace is the foundation for every meaningful development,” Hon. Kpotosu emphasised.
