Gov’t Releases Nearly GH¢1 Billion to District Assemblies for First Quarter of 2025 – Ato Forson

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced the release of GH¢987,965,730 to the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) as the first-quarter allocation for 2025.

Addressing Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam MP revealed that the funds were transferred from the Consolidated Fund on Monday, June 2, as part of the government’s commitment to strengthening decentralisation and local governance.

“As of yesterday, the DACF has received and we have transferred GH¢987,965,730 from the Consolidated Fund,” he stated.

Dr. Forson stressed that, in accordance with statutory requirements, 80 per cent of the amount must be transferred directly to the various district assemblies without delay.

“The Administrator of the DACF is required to ensure that 80% of this amount is transferred directly to the district assemblies without fail,” he noted.

He added that expenditure returns must be submitted to the Ministry of Finance before any further disbursements can be made.

He also called on Members of Parliament to play an active role in monitoring the utilisation of the funds in their constituencies to ensure accountability and adherence to government spending guidelines.

“Honourable Members of Parliament are encouraged to monitor the utilisation of these funds in their respective districts, in line with the directives approved by the cabinet of President John Dramani Mahama,” Dr. Forson said.
