Mama’s Light Foundation has marked Mother’s Day 2025 with a moving tribute to women across Ghana and the world.
In a statement released on Sunday, May 11, 2025, the Foundation paid glowing homage to mothers, describing them as “the backbone of our homes, the moral compass of our society, and the invisible architects of our future.”
“On this special occasion of Mother’s Day 2025, Mama’s Light Foundation extends warm appreciation and heartfelt gratitude to all mothers across Ghana, Africa, and the world. Today, we honour the strength, resilience, and boundless love that define motherhood and uplift our communities,” portions of the statement by Secretary of the Board of Trustees, Elizabeth Larweh, read.
The Foundation, which was inspired by the late Mrs. Lawrencia Larweh — herself a symbol of nurturing strength and community service — said its work is grounded in the legacy of women like her.
“Our name and mission are rooted in the legacy of a remarkable mother,” Ms. Larweh noted, “who embodied the essence of motherhood, nurturing, empowering, and selflessly serving others.”
Mama’s Light Foundation also used the occasion to announce a bold new initiative dubbed the “Light Up a Mother’s Life” Campaign, which seeks to directly support 40 women-led households in cocoa-growing communities across the Eastern and Oti Regions.
“This campaign is about more than charity — it’s about transformation. We will provide livelihood support and mentorship to women who are often the silent engines powering entire communities. When you empower a mother, you uplift a generation.”
“We honour mothers not just with words, but through action and impact,” she stressed.
Mama’s Light Foundation runs various programmes including vocational training, literacy development, and community outreach — all tailored to help underserved women and children live better, more dignified lives.
