Patrick Boamah’s Donation Ahead of Easter, Historic – Salvation Army Ghana

The Secretary for Programmes at the Salvation Army Ghana Territory, Lt. Col. Justice Isaac Incoom, has described as “historic” a generous donation gesture by the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, to the Christian Council of Ghana ahead of the Easter celebrations.

Mr Boamah presented 1,000 packs of bottled water along with a substantial and undisclosed sum of money to support the Council’s outreach programmes, Easter conventions, and community engagements during the Holy Week. The donation was made during a short but significant ceremony at the Christian Council’s headquarters in Accra.

Lt. Col. Incoom praised the MP’s act of kindness, noting that such gestures are rare, especially during Christian festivities.

“I think it’s historic, as far as my memory serves me. When Muslims are fasting, MPs and Ministers donate to support them. But I can’t recall a similar donation during a major Christian observance like this. So I believe this is historic in itself,” he remarked.

He further noted that the support would go a long way to assist the Council and its member churches in carrying out their mission during the Easter period, especially as many congregations hold special services and community support activities.

The Okaikwei legislator, for his part, underscored the spiritual importance of Easter and the need for Christians to remain connected to its message.

“We must be mindful of the reason for the celebration and re-enact the most significant event in the salvation history of God,” he said.

“It is a period when Christians also reflect on renewal following the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. This renewal should characterise every aspect of our lives — spiritually, morally, and socially.”

The Chairman of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr. Hilliard K. Dela Dogbe, who also received the donation, expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the Council. He commended Hon. Boamah and his team for their thoughtfulness and solidarity with the Christian community.

The Christian Council of Ghana, comprising major Christian denominations across the country, is expected to use the donated resources to enhance its Easter outreach, welfare support, and related activities in communities where the Church plays a vital role in social transformation.
