The government and Organised Labour have reached an agreement to increase the base pay for public sector workers, with the increment taking effect from January to December 2025.
Announcing the decision on Thursday, February 20, 2025, Labour Minister Dr Rashid Pelpuo stated that the daily minimum wage has been adjusted to GH₵19.97 representing a 10% wage increase for public sector workers.
This comes after Organised Labour’s persistent calls for an upward review of wages to reflect the prevailing economic conditions.
The latest adjustment marks the second salary increment in less than a year, following a 23% pay rise in 2024 aimed at cushioning workers against the rising cost of living.
