The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has declared a nationwide strike in protest against the appointment of Samuel Adom Botchway as the Registrar of the Births and Deaths Registry.
The decision was announced after a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on February 11, 2025, during which members raised concerns over the appointment of politically exposed individuals to key positions within the Civil Service and local government structures.
According to CLOGSAG, the National Executive Committee had warned that if Mr Botchway assumed office, the association would embark on industrial action.
Following his official assumption of duty on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, CLOGSAG declared that it had no option but to proceed with a nationwide strike effective Thursday, February 20, 2025.
