Nigerian Afrobeats star Ahmed Ololade, known as Asake, addressed discussions about his bold new look and facial tattoos.
At the 67th Grammy Awards on 2 February 2025, the 30-year-old told Billboard his appearance reflects his mindset and comfort.
Speaking on his transformation, Asake stated, “This is how I feel now. I love to feel comfortable in myself, in the things that I feel are good for me, not even about anybody.”
He further added that his look may change at any time, saying, “I might wake up tomorrow and you guys may not see any tattoo on my face.”
During the interview, Asake also spoke about his fashion choices, describing his current style as his “military era.”
He explained that his outfits are an extension of his emotions, revealing that he prefers to dress in a way that aligns with how he feels.
The 67th Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles, marked Asake’s first appearance at the prestigious event.
He was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for his song “Amapiano,” which went to Tems for her song “Love Me Jeje,”
