Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has announced a raft of punitive measures in the House following the chaos that greeted yesterday’s Appointments Committee session.
It will be recalled that the Appointments Committee descended into chaos on Thursday evening as tensions flared between members of the Minority and Majority, leading to a heated confrontation.
The clash escalated to the point where tables and microphones were destroyed, prompting the intervention of the police to restore order and prevent further destruction.
Addressing MPs on Friday, January 31, 2025, the Speaker decried the chaotic scenes and ruled that 4 of the MPs involved have been suspended for two weeks. The four include Majority Chief Whip, Rockson Nelson-Dafeamekpor, Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annor Dompreh, Second Deputy Whip, Jerry Ahmed and Gushegu MP, Hassan Tampuli.
