Ghana’s 9th Parliament officially commenced today January 6, 2024.
This marked a historic shift in power as the National Democratic Congress (NDC) assumed a dominant majority over the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
With 183 seats, the NDC’s strong presence is reshaping the legislative landscape, leaving the NPP with just 88 seats.
Adding to the NDC’s numbers, four independent MPs – including Worlasi Kpeli (Afram Plains North) and Ohene Kwame Frimpong (Asante Akim North) – have aligned with the party, granting them a decisive two-thirds majority.
This unprecedented majority paves the way for the NDC to drive key policy initiatives and implement transformative legislative changes with greater ease.
