The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has filed a notice of appeal following a High Court ruling in Accra that granted the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) mandamus application, compelling the Electoral Commission (EC) to complete the collation and declaration of parliamentary results in four constituencies.
The affected constituencies are Tema Central, Ablekuma North, Okaikwei Central, and Techiman South.
In addition to the collation order, the court directed the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to ensure the Electoral Commission is provided with adequate security to complete the process.
After the ruling, the NDC’s Director of Legal Affairs, Godwin Edudzi Tameklo, announced the party’s intention to appeal the decision.
“This matter is not yet over. Nobody should be deceived. It will not end here. We are appealing the decision,” Mr. Tameklo told journalists outside the court.
He confirmed that the party had already filed the necessary notices of appeal to challenge the High Court’s decision. The party has also filed a stay of execution of the High Court’s decision.
