President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s final State of the Nation Address in Parliament today, Friday, January 3, 2025, witnessed a rather disturbing incident when his aide-de-camp, Colonel Isaac Amponsah, collapsed while on duty in the chamber.
The incident occurred shortly after President Akufo-Addo began his address, which outlined the government’s achievements. Col. Amponsah, a longstanding and dedicated member of the President’s security team, suddenly lost his balance and collapsed without prior signs of distress.
Parliament’s medical team swiftly responded, providing immediate first aid before transporting Col. Amponsah to the Parliament House Clinic for further evaluation.
In response to the incident, President Akufo-Addo briefly paused his speech, visibly concerned, to ensure his aide-de-camp received proper attention. Despite the interruption, the address resumed shortly after and proceeded without further incident.
