President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) today, Friday, January 3, 2025.
The outgoing President is expected to provide a comprehensive update on the country’s current state and touch on key developments across various sectors of the economy as his tenure draws to a close.
This address precedes the dissolution of the 8th Parliament, scheduled for the night of Monday, January 6, 2025. The 9th Parliament will be inaugurated the same night, paving the way for the election and swearing-in of the new Speaker and two deputies.
President Akufo-Addo will officially hand over to President-elect John Dramani Mahama, who will assume office on January 7, 2025, following his landslide victory in the 2024 polls. The new administration is set to commence work immediately after the inauguration.
