Ghana has recorded its first confirmed mpox case in one of its regions, with 230 suspected cases under investigation across all 16 regions. The majority of suspected cases involve individuals between 20-40 years old, exhibiting symptoms such as fever, headache, muscle aches, and the characteristic mpox rash.

To mitigate the spread of mpox, the GHS advises citizens to practice improved hygiene, including frequent handwashing, and avoid close contact with individuals showing symptoms.

Ghana’s healthcare system has demonstrated resilience in managing infectious disease outbreaks. The country’s rapid response to the mpox case demonstrates its commitment to protecting public health.

Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, has affected numerous countries worldwide. Ghana’s confirmation underscores the need for continued vigilance and cooperation among nations to combat public health threats.

Ghanaians are encouraged to remain calm, seek information from credible sources, and adhere to public health guidelines. Together, we can contain the spread of mpox and ensure a healthier Ghana.
