Speaker Bagbin Recalls MPs for Emergency Sitting After Petition from Majority Leader

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has recalled Members of Parliament from their recess for an emergency sitting. This follows a petition by the Majority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, urging the Speaker to bring the House back into session.

Afenyo-Markin in his petition on behalf of the Majority Caucus voiced their dissatisfaction with the Speaker’s decision to adjourn the House indefinitely on Tuesday, 30 July.

In response, a summons issued by Speaker Bagbin on Wednesday, 7 August, announced that Parliament would reconvene on September 3, 2024, at 10 a.m.
