President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, as the new board chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). The appointment was confirmed in a letter signed by the President’s Secretary, Ambassador Nana Asante Bediatuo.
“The President of the Republic has nominated Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin (MP), Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (the ‘Company’). Kindly take the necessary steps to give effect to the President’s nomination in accordance with the Companies Act 2019 (Act 992) and the Regulations of the Company,” the letter stated.

Afenyo-Markin succeeds Herbert Krapa, who now serves as the Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.
