The Volta Regional Parliamentary Candidates Caucus of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has congratulated the Vice Presidential Candidate and the Member of Parliament for Manhyia South Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh on his nomination by the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party Alhaji Dr Bawumia Mahamudu to partner him in upcoming General elections.
The Press Statement signed by the Parliamentary Candidate for North Dayi and the Dean for the New Patriotic Party Parliamentary Candidates in the Region noted the choice of Dr. Opoku Prempeh is a result of his sterling leadership qualities exhibited as the Minister of Education where he successfully helped the President implement the Free Senior High Policy which has increased the enrollment of students in the second cycle institutions across the country.
The Caucus also noted this tenacity as the Minister of Energy by making sure that the country has not been plunged into years of blackout (dumsor) which gained its notoriety during the era of Former President Mahama.
“Your abhorrence to the name “dumsor” stems from your love for the business community among others who need the power to do their businesses by ensuring that the country does not experience excruciating power outages that may lead to the collapse of businesses.”
The Caucus believed the nomination of Dr. Opoku Prempeh resonated with the rank and file of the party in the Region and would help the Flagbearer to break the “8” and continue the developmental agenda of the County.
The Caucus described the Energy Minister as a politician with vast experience in his profession as a medical practitioner and a generous gentleman who resonates with the grassroots of the party in the Region.
