Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Urges Female Journalists to Amplify Stories of Women and their Experiences Across the Country

Running mate to the NDC flagbearer, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has met with female journalists as part of the John Mahama 2024 campaign. The event was an opportunity to celebrate the significant contributions of female media practitioners in Ghana, as well as to discuss the unique challenges they face in their profession.

The event which took place on Thursday, June 20, 2024, commenced with a warm welcome from Professor Opoku Agyemang, who expressed her admiration and respect for the dedication of female journalists.

She highlighted their vital role in informing, educating, and entertaining the Ghanaian public.

During her address, Professor Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the importance of amplifying women’s stories and experiences across the nation. She noted that telling the stories of Ghanaian women, who face unique challenges and achieve remarkable triumphs, is crucial for national progress.

She also spoke passionately about the role of the media in societal development, stressing that collaboration between male and female journalists is essential. She clarified that the issue is not about male journalists sidelining their female counterparts but about fostering a collaborative storytelling approach that can drive national development and unity.

One of the key topics of discussion was the need for more in-depth reporting on issues affecting women and children. Professor Opoku Agyemang urged female journalists to move beyond surface-level reporting and delve into the complexities and nuances of women’s lives in Ghana.
