Elorm Ababio known in social media circles as Ama Governor, has been officially called to the bar in Ghana. This follows a prolonged dispute with the General Legal Council over her conduct as a law student.
On Friday, May 31, 2024, the popular social media influencer joined 181 other individuals who were sworn in as new lawyers as they received a certificate at a ceremony
A video shared on social media platforms captured an elated Ama Governor ascending the podium, bowing before dignitaries, receiving her certificate, and returning to her seat.
In 2022 and 2023, despite meeting all academic and professional requirements, Ama Governor was denied the call to the Bar after the General Legal Council received a complaint alleging her conduct was “unbecoming of an applicant to be called to the Bar.” This decision ignited a public outcry, with debates raging on social media and beyond. Some criticized the General Legal Council’s decision, while others supported their stance.
Ama Governor vehemently denied any offensive behaviour or inappropriate communications, stating she had not been informed of any specific misconduct and felt she was treated unjustly.
