Media personality Serwaa Amihere has issued a public apology following the release of an intimate video that went viral a few weeks ago. The explicit video, involving Serwaa and one Henry Fritz, was leaked on Tuesday, April 2, and quickly spread across social media platforms.
Three individuals, including Henry Fritz, who is currently at large, were charged on April 8 for their alleged involvement in distributing the intimate video online. According to the charge sheet presented in court, Serwaa Amihere had paid a ransom to prevent the video from being made public. However, despite receiving GH¢25,000, the three accused individuals went ahead and shared the video on social media.
The accused individuals face charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, specifically, the non-consensual sharing of intimate images, violating Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29), and Section 67(1)(2) of the Cybersecurity Act 2020 (Act 1038).
In a statement posted on her social media accounts, Serwaa Amihere revealed that she had been subjected to extortion five months before the video’s leak and had cooperated with the police in an attempt to apprehend the extortionists.
She also expressed regret for the incident, noting that the video was recorded five years ago, and apologized for the embarrassment and disappointment caused to her family, business partners, and fans.
“Sincerely, I say sorry for the embarrassment, disappointment, and frustration that this matter has caused to my family and loved ones, to the distinguished businesses and brands I represent, and to you.”
