Mawuena Adzo Trebarh, the accomplished Ghanaian businesswoman and sister of the late Komla Dumor, has passed away at the age of 52. According to reports, she succumbed to a brief illness on April 11, 2024.
Born on April 12, 1971, Mawuena Adzo Trebarh, served as the first female CEO of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).
Additionally, Trebarh held the distinction of being the first female Board Chairperson of the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel Ghana. Her career spanned both the private and public sectors, showcasing her versatility and leadership abilities.
During her illustrious career, Mawuena Adzo Trebarh occupied several senior executive roles, starting with her groundbreaking position as the first female underground exploration geologist at Ashanti Goldfields Company Ltd. She later assumed the role of head of Corporate Communications at Newmont Ghana Gold Ltd., followed by a tenure as head of Corporate Service at Mobile Telecommunications Network (MTN). Furthermore, she played a pivotal role as the founding director and Chief Business Strategist at Inspire Africa.
Tragically, Mrs. Trebarh passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, just one day shy of her birthday.
In 2020, she assumed the role of deputy spokesperson for John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Election 2020 Campaign. Furthermore, she served as the spokesperson and Head of Communications for the office of Mahama’s running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.
Mawuena Adzo Trebarh leaves behind her husband, Flight Lieutenant Divine Trebarh and their daughter, Katherine Joy.
