Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum has broken the 120th hour as her Sing-a-thon record attempt enters Day 5.
Afua began the record-breaking attempt on December 24, 2023, but has had to extend the time further to make up for any breaks.
The current record, set in 2012 by Indian Sunil Waghmare, stands at 105 hours—a mark that Afua has already surpassed.
A tall list of showbiz personalities including Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Samini, Nana Ama McBrown, Kwabena Kwabena, Efya, Sista Afia, Afronitaa, Delay, Cina Soul, among others have all thronged the venue to throw their support behind her bid.
Before she’ll be named as the record breaker, Afua and her team are expected to diligently adhere to the regulations and criteria laid out by the Guinness World Record board.
A crucial guideline guiding Afua during this endeavour is that her physical position is inconsequential – whether sitting, standing, or lying down – as long as she continues singing.
However, humming or jamming out to tunes like musicians is strictly prohibited, and there will be no drumming, setting this event apart from typical music shows. Nevertheless, she is free to engage in conversation between songs.
