Ghanaian entrepreneur and journalist, Afua Asantewaa Owusu Aduonum has defied all odds and successfully concluded her Guinness World Record attempt on Friday morning, achieving an impressive 126 hours of continuous singing.
The record-breaking attempt which commenced on Sunday, December 24, 2023, officially ended around 7 am on Friday, December 29, 2023.
Afua’s ambitious quest to establish the record for the longest individual singing marathon garnered widespread admiration, with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia acknowledging her remarkable feat.
On Thursday, December 27, 2023, Afua surpassed the previous record set by Indian singer Sunil Waghmare, who had sung for 105 hours in March 2012.
While her team eagerly awaits the official determination by the Guinness Book of Records, Afua’s medical team emphasized that her health remains their top priority.
Afua’s focus during the record-breaking attempt was exclusively on songs from Ghana, celebrating Highlife, Hiplife, and Gospel genres.
Throughout her journey, prominent celebrities, including Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Samini, Sarkodie, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Clemento Suarez, OB Amponsah, Kuami Eugene, MOG, Fifi Coleman, and others, stormed the Akwaaba Village (Airport) to throw their support behind her.
