Residents of Tanoso in the Techiman Municipality of the Bono East Region remain in shock as they mourn the gruesome murder of 30-year-old Police Assistant, Addo Justice Kwabena, by his own biological brother during a fierce altercation.
Hundreds of colleagues, friends, and sympathizers gathered in the community on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, to offer condolences and support to the grieving family during the final funeral rites, bidding farewell to the “hard-working” assistant.
The tragic incident unfolded when the Community Police Officer met his untimely death during a heated exchange with his elder brother at their residence in Tanoso on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.

The confrontation escalated into a physical altercation, catching the attention of nearby residents, mostly women, who attempted to intervene and restore calm between the temper-consumed siblings.
Eyewitness accounts revealed that, despite efforts by onlookers to separate the brothers, the deceased yielded to the appeals and moved towards a nearby house. However, the suspect, identified as Thompson, abruptly retrieved a knife from his room and pursued his departing brother, mercilessly stabbing him multiple times in the head, ribs, and back. The brutal attack left the victim bleeding profusely, resulting in his tragic death.
The cause of the initial disagreement leading to the fatal incident remains unknown. The episode also reportedly heightened tensions among the youth in the vicinity.

“After ‘Oleema’ (the deceased) fell down, Thompson kicked him again with his leg and took out some money amounting to Gh¢2,200.00 from ‘Oleema’s pocket,” recounted Augustine Bannor, an eyewitness, to newsalertgh.com.
Efforts to prevent the attack were met with threats from the assailant, who brandished the knife. The victim was rushed to the Tanoso health center but was declared dead upon arrival.
The suspect, 33-year-old Thompson, was subsequently apprehended by the police, presented before the Techiman Circuit Court, and has since been remanded into police custody. He is scheduled to reappear before the court on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.
