BoG’s ‘earthquake’ justification strengthens our stance – Minority Leader reiterates call for resignation of Governor and deputies

The Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson says the Bank of Ghana’s recent attempt to justify their mishandling of the central bank strengthens their stance that the Governor, Dr Ernest Addison and his two deputies must resign.

Earlier this week, the Ajumako-Enyan-Esiam MP at a press conference called on the trio to step down in the wake of the apex bank’s staggering GH¢60 billion loss in 2022.

In a statement, the management of the BoG attributed the substantial loss to factors including cedi depreciation, the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), and COCOBOD loans. However, Dr Forson remains unconvinced by these explanations.

Taking to his Twitter handle, the Minority Leader said the attempt by the Central Bank to justify the overspending only strengthens the opposition party’s calls for Dr Addison to step down from his position.

“I’ve seen @thebankofghana attempting to justify their actions! This further strengthens our stance that Dr Addison and his deputies (the Printers) should be held responsible for the mishandling of the central bank and their blatant disregard for our laws!” Dr Ato Forson said.
