Appiatse Reconstruction: Redeveloped township to be commissioned in 3 months

Chairman of the Appiatse Support Fund, Rev. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee says she is looking forward to the commissioning of the redeveloped township in a possible three months’ time.

A total of 540 units of houses have been earmarked for construction, ranging from one-bedroom to seven-bedroom houses, after a devastating explosion wiped out the township on January 20, 2022.

Speaking on Current Affairs Show ‘Spotlight’ on MX24 TV, Dr Joyce Aryee said a lot of effort has been put into the construction by the team including community members who were carried along in the redevelopment.

“We’ve come quite far and I really am looking forward to us commissioning it in at least the next three months. The team worked very hard. What should have taken two years, usually when you’re planning some of these things, you have to go to the community and talk to the people, that took a long time, the design also took a bit of time,” she told host Adwoa Tenkoramaa.

The Chairperson also indicated that the reconstruction comes with multiple new structures for every house including a veranda, toilet facility, and kitchen among others.

“Most communities had one-bedroom, two bedrooms, and it’s just one room or two rooms, no distinction, what we’ve tried doing is to give at least a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, a toilet and a veranda,” she added.

The Appiatse support fund was commissioned on January 27, 2022, a week after the disastrous explosion to solicit funds for the reconstruction of the township.

A total of 540 units of houses have been earmarked for construction, ranging from one-bedroom to seven-bedroom houses.

Meanwhile, the Chairperson says the reconstruction will come with the building of a new modern market and road network for the community.
