The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has officially introduced Nana Yaw Amoah-Yeboah as the new Director-General of the National Information Technology Agency (NITA), succeeding Dr Mark-Oliver Kevor.

Hon. Samuel Nartey George noted that the new Director-General assumes office at a pivotal moment as the government prepares to implement major reforms across the digital sector.

He disclosed that the proposed NITA Act, once passed by Parliament, will establish a stronger governance and regulatory framework by separating the Agency’s regulatory and commercial functions.

The Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the governance of Ghana’s national digital infrastructure. He announced that all payments relating to NITA-managed infrastructure will henceforth be made directly to the Agency, a move aimed at safeguarding public assets, improving accountability and enhancing operational efficiency.

He urged him to foster a culture of teamwork, maintain an open-door leadership style and build on the Agency’s achievements as NITA evolves into a stronger and more effective digital regulator.

Board Chair of NITA, Estelle Akofio-Sowah, expressed confidence in Mr Amoah-Yeboah’s ability to lead the Agency through its next phase of growth. She assured him of the Board’s full support and encouraged him to harness the expertise of NITA’s staff to advance Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
