Bank of Ghana’s Gold reserves surge by 38.7% year-on-year

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has reported a year-on-year increase in its gold reserves, with holdings growing by 38.7 per cent from August 2024 to August 2025.

​According to data released by the central bank, its gold reserves have jumped from 25.97 tonnes in August 2024 to 36.02 tonnes by the end of August 2025.

The significant growth of more than 10 tonnes of gold within a year highlights the central bank’s consistent efforts to shore up Ghana’s gold reserves.

​The central bank’s data also shows a month-on-month increase in gold holdings.

It accumulated 1.62 tonnes during August, as reserves rose from 34.40 tonnes in July to 36.02 tonnes in August.

This represents a percentage increase of approximately 4.7 per cent from July to August.
