NADMO Activates Emergency Hotlines as Floodwaters Submerge Accra and Surrounding Areas

The National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has issued a public alert, urging residents to stay safe and swiftly report emergencies.

This follows Sunday’s heavy downpour, which left several areas, including Weija, Adabraka, Adjei-Kojo, Kaneshie, Adentan-Dodowa, and sections of the Tema enclave, submerged. Roads such as the one stretching from Awudome Roundabout to Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange were rendered impassable, leaving commuters stranded.

In response to the growing emergency, NADMO has activated its emergency response lines and is encouraging the public to contact them immediately in the event of distress.

Stay Prepared! Flooding can happen quickly and without warning. Don’t wait—save these emergency numbers now,” NADMO stated in a public announcement shared on social media.

Emergency hotlines released include:

The organisation also noted that it’s available via social media on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and TikTok under the handle @nadmoghana.

NADMO’s alert follows similar assurances by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), which confirmed that the rainstorm had disrupted power supply in parts of Accra. ECG engineers are currently working to resolve faults and restore power to affected areas.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid flood-prone zones, remain indoors where possible, and report incidents promptly for coordinated rescue and relief efforts.
