Organised Labour has stated that the withdrawal of Rock City Hotel’s bid to purchase 60% of SSNIT’s stake in four hotels is not enough.
According to the President of the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT), Angel Carbonu what they seek is a complete abrogation of the sale of SSNIT stakes in four hotels including Labadi Beach Hotel, La Palm Royal among others.
This decision follows Organised Labour’s announcement of a nationwide strike over the development.
The final straw for many was the National Pensions Regulatory Authority’s (NPRA) decision to allow Rock City Hotel to proceed with the process after initial consideration.
The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has indicated that the deal is not in the interest of Ghanaians.
As more and more unions threw their weight behind the industrial action, Rock City Hotel’s management stated that the negative reaction left them with no option but to pull out.
